Artist Statement
My creations begin with sharp pencils, precise strokes, and a wonderment of another world.
With a strong love of details, my earlier works involved creating pet portraits and larger drawings of stand-alone objects. These were the foundations that helped shape my skills and technique to further myself and my subject. My current artworks portray a charming world of humanised Cat Ladies, showcasing the life of these characters as they navigate everyday existence through different social scenes.
I am intrigued by the connection between human and feline and am constantly inspired by my own two cats, who play a strong role in my work as I strive to instil their charm and personality into my characters.
My own two beautiful cats, Evie & Rosie are my constant muses and inspiration.
I have developed a mixed media approach where my large-scale artworks come to life through a blend of graphite, colour pencil and acrylic, with the subtleties of black and white harmoniously meeting the vibrancy of colour. My controlled pencil work elevates the finer details, inviting the viewer in for closer examination and exposing a window into our deeper imaginations.
Each artwork is a labour of love, taking months to complete as I meticulously delve into details, layering pencil and paint to bring these captivating narratives to life.
